About Us
Greetings everyone! We are the Lee family (Nicholas & Shacreya, Eli, Brave & Faith). Our love story began in the summer of 2009, and we sealed it with a wedding in October of 2013. Parenthood was always our shared dream, and we eagerly discussed the idea of starting a family. We both agreed and envisioned having three children! Despite struggling to conceive for several years, we remained positive and prayerful.
Our dreams and prayers came true, and we now share the joy of raising three beautiful children: Eli, Brave, and Faith. Eli, our firstborn son, arrived full term in November 2017. Next was Brave, our middle son and the first of our two micro preemies. Brave was born in May of 2022, four months early. Princess Faith was our final child and second micro preemie. She was born in August of 2023, also four months early. We feel incredibly blessed beyond what we could have imagined!
We cherish being together as a family. We enjoy going for walks, bike rides, and spending time in the backyard. We especially love it when friends and family come to visit us at our home!
Getting out together can sometimes be a challenge due to the amount of equipment Brave requires and having two children with very low immune systems. However, whenever we can, we are out enjoying ourselves!
During and after our NICU experiences, we felt a strong desire to step in the gap and advocate for NICU/PICU parents. So, we decided that “The Brave Box” was a necessary outreach and began working towards our goals to ensure that no parent should walk the NICU journey alone.

Brave continues to face challenges as scars from the life threatening battles he overcame! He never lets his pain and suffering define his next moves nor keep him from achieving great success in the future!

Despite the challenges, Brave continues to thrive, embodying strength and courage. As we look ahead, we know there are many milestones to achieve and hurdles to overcome. Yet, with Brave's determined spirit leading the way, we remain confident in facing whatever lies ahead. Brave is not just a name; it's a testament to his unwavering bravery and resilience.
Shacreya’s Brave Journey
Our family of three prayed and hoped for a second child when in January 2022, our dreams came true when my husband, Nick and I discovered we were expecting our second baby!
However, my pregnancy journey faced immediate challenges. From the outset, I experienced low HCG levels, indicating a slower progression compared to a typical pregnancy. Doctors even warned of the possibility of miscarriage. Yet, undeterred, Nick and I remained steadfast in our faith, clinging to the hope that our baby would arrive healthy in September 2022.
On May 1st, surrounded by our closest friends and family, my husband and I learned we were expecting a baby boy! Although our 4-year-old son had hoped for a sister, he was thrilled at the prospect of having a baby brother.
On May 16th I began to experience mild back pain and discomfort. By May 19th, the discomfort escalated into intense cramping, signaling the onset of labor. My husband rushed me to St. John's Hospital, where doctors discovered I was fully dilated. Shockingly, they also detected a faint heartbeat, offering a glimmer of hope.
In a whirlwind of fear and tears, I underwent an emergency C-section. Uncertainty loomed as I prayed alongside the nurses for Brave's well-being. Born on May 19th, 2022, at 11:02 PM, weighing only 1 lb. 09oz, Brave entered the world four months ahead of schedule, necessitating immediate hospitalization in the NICU
Brave's journey has been marked by resilience and courage. He has endured two heart surgeries, recovered from a collapsed lung, received eye injections, undergone a tracheostomy and G-tube insertion, and even underwent brain surgery to place a VP shunt. Brave faced 21 surgeries within his first year of life.
Despite the challenges, Brave continues to thrive, embodying strength and courage. As we look ahead, we know there are many milestones to achieve and hurdles to overcome. Yet, with Brave's determined spirit leading the way, we remain confident in facing whatever lies ahead. Brave is not just a name; it's a testament to his unwavering bravery and resilience.
