The Brave Box embodies the shared vision of Brave's devoted parents, who are deeply passionate about supporting families facing the challenges of the NICU. Their journey began with Brave, who spent an arduous 341 days in the NICU as a micro preemie, forever altering the course of their lives.
Throughout Brave's NICU stay, both he and his parents encountered formidable obstacles. The Lees grappled with countless uncertainties, feeling overwhelmed and devastated by the unexpected arrival of their premature baby. Living an hour away from the hospital and caring for a 5-year-old sibling at home, life seemed to race by in the fast lane.
Given Brave's early arrival, the Lees understood they were embarking on a lengthy journey. Yet, amidst the challenges, they found solace in the NICU, which gradually began to feel like a second home.
However, their NICU journey did not conclude with Brave's discharge. Just seven days later, Shacreya received unexpected news—she was pregnant again! Faith, Brave's sister, arrived four months early, extending the family's NICU experience. Faith spent 176 days in the hospital, contributing to the Lees' cumulative NICU stay of over 500 days across two consecutive years.
Shacreya's traumatic birthing experiences, coupled with her near-death encounter, reshaped her profoundly. Recognizing the importance of support and empathy for families enduring NICU trauma, she vowed to stand alongside those in similar situations.
According to the Lees, the Brave Box serves as a beacon of hope during the challenging days families endure in the hospital—a thoughtful gesture to uplift spirits when they need it most.
Braves Box “is the perfect pick-me-up on those hard days families face while in the hospital.” Says the Lee’s.
